Like Thanksgiving Long Weekend is here.

As you prepare for a party or drive to get your pumpkin-spiced treats, we remind you that this three-day weekend still has an abundance of things happening in and around Metro Vancouver this long weekend.

Playlands Hallowed Eves Nights opens this weekend, October 8th. This year’s theme is described as having a “Caravan of Curiosities” that rolls into the city and takes over the entire park with firefighters, contortionists, an annoying doll and other strange things.

Catch a shooting star

Draconid’s Meteor shower has been responsible for some of the most spectacular meteor showers in recorded history! This year, meteor showers will be at their highest in the evening on Thursday 7 October and Friday 8 October. It may be a bit cloudy these days, but clear skies are expected for Friday night. For the best viewing experience, find a place away from the city lights and dress warmly for the celestial light show in October.

Cougar Creek’s House of Horrors, in Surrey, reopened on October 1, 2021. Formerly known as Potter’s Haunted Houses, it has been halted due to the pandemic. However, it is now left with improvements and new safety rules and extremely relaxing haunted houses to explore.

Get on a Halloween trainBear Creek Haunted Forest Scream Train

Although the Scream train for adults is not open until October 15, The Bear Creek Mini Golf & Train opens this weekend for kids. This is a Halloween fun pumpkin train ride that takes place October 9 – 31 from 10:00 to 16:30. For $ 10, kids get a train ride, treats and a pumpkin. Children under 2 are free and you do not have to buy your tickets online.

Laity Pumpkin Patch South in Maple Ridge has created an entire village made up entirely of pumpkins. In addition to that, they also have a host of other attractions that scream falls as best as possible. This is a great place to visit for the seasonal fall photos and of course pumpkins.

Krause Berry Farms has been a long time destination for those who want to get a taste of the season and pick berries, pumpkins and award-winning pastries. Be sure to visit and get their limited seasonal pumpkin waffles. Also visit the winery to pick up some fruit wine (suggest Apple) for your Thanksgiving dinner. Yes, they also have a pumpkin patch.

Celebrate Oktoberfest before it disappears

Craft Beer Market’s Okterbfest menu lasts until October 11, 2021. Unfortunately, Harvest Haus has been delayed until next year, but you can still celebrate this German holiday with delicious food and of course beer.

If you are a John Lennon fan or by Yoko Ono, the Vancouver Art Gallery is hosting “Growing Freedom: Instructions of Yoko Ono and The Art of John and Yoko” from October 9, 2021. The exhibition will look at the couple’s collaborative projects as well as artistically instructional work by Yoko Ono.

From now until October 31, 2021, this haunted corn maze at Maan Farms is a series of terribly fun experiences. There are a number of opportunities to explore. Described as the ‘scary corn maze in Canada’, Maan Farms is back again and will also have 2 extra intimidating experiences to keep you on your toes.

Take a pumpkin, go on a hay trip

It is officially acceptable to start decorating your home with autumn pumpkins and taking cute pictures. There are a number of charming pumpkin patches around Metro Vancouver. Some of them offer rides, pets, attractions for children and of course pumpkins. While not all are open, check out our list of local pumpkin patches and choose your adventure.

Lose yourself in a Van Gogh painting one last time

Just a little longer, the Imagine Van Gogh exhibit has been a popular spot for many since its launch earlier this year. Tickets are sold out several times and the dates are extended to October 31st. This is the last month to experience this for yourself if you have not already done so, or go again if you wish. Here’s a look inside.

Chilliwack Corn Maze has opened on Greendale Acres. This is the 23rd maze, and this time will include 12 acres of adventure and the word “WANDER” in the maze itself. One-time tickets and season tickets are available.

Watch a movie on the big screen

Autumn is a perfect time to hit the cinemas with some buttery popcorn. There are some great movies to watch, including the latest Marvel hit Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings. Opening this weekend is the much-anticipated Venom: Let There Be Carnage as well as The Addams Family 2.

Cambie Street Bridge has a new digital and artistic makeover that is a true combination of art and technology. The underside of the bridge has been transformed into the digital world by the Voxel Bridge. This is the Vancouver Biennale’s most recent public art installation. Using augmented reality (AR) and blockchain technology, space becomes an interactive 3D world.
