news, latest news,

Here’s a mood you do not see every day. “God bless all public servants” – said the bulletin board outside the Immanuel Woden Valley Lutheran Church in Lyons this week. The sign – which has first-class properties facing Melrose Drive – often has modest messages that also capture the spirit of the times. “We try,” said Pastor Tim Muller. The church had working and retired public servants as part of its congregation, and the message was a cry to them. “It’s a way to honor them,” he said. Tim said the announcement was not explicitly regarding the COVID response from government employees, but it could be taken that way. “It was not the first thought, but I can see it being important,” Tim said. The church will livestream its services, but parishioners will be able to worship in person under the relaxed restrictions of October 29, as will all places of worship.
