Hi Jurgen,

Wow, six years as Liverpool boss already! Congratulations! Time flies, right?

As Manchester City supporters, we can not pretend to be big fans of your work – you have beaten us a few times too many times for it – but we admire the work you have done on the M62.

Truth be told, it always felt a little strange to see Liverpool fight in the years before you arrived. Yes, they almost won the league in 2014, but they did not cause us too many problems in the end. Matches against the Reds between 2009 and 2013 had an unusual air of predictability around them, as you (as long as the match was at the Etihad) could pretty much guarantee that Liverpool would not show up.

Anyway, you had done a hell of a job. We know what it feels like to win a league title for the first time in decades, so we hope you enjoyed it.

Oh, and there’s one more thing we want to thank you for: ta to help City win lots of trophies.

“He helped me, his team helped me become a better manager,” were words that came from the mouths of our own ingenious gaffer, Pep Guardiola. He was talking about you, Jurgen.

When Pep followed you to the Premier League in 2016, we knew we were going to win trophies – he’s one of the greatest leaders ever – but few City fans would have predicted we would win three Premier League titles in his first five seasons in charge, as well as four consecutive Carabao Cups. Our meetings with your team did not play a small role in that.

Every friend of Pep’s is one of our friends, Jurgen

“He gave me another level to think about it, to prove to myself what I need to do to be a better manager with our team to try to beat them. That’s why I’m still in this business, said Pep about you.

You and Liverpool have only managed one league title and one Champions League crown since 2015, though we are pretty envious of the latter. We let you have the former, just to say thank you. Playing the role you have in our success was really very selfless.

In fact, we would go so far as to say that you are (almost) as good a coach as Pep – he certainly means that: “There are some leaders, Jurgen is one, to challenge you to take a step forward … here we have many years, many competitions together. Every match was great, both teams have the same idea, go to score goals in different ways; faster than us, but in the same way to win the battles. “

Like you, we can not get enough of Manchester City! That is why we have decided to supplement our expansive city coverage Manchester Evening News with a more fan-oriented platform specifically aimed at City fans – The city is ours.

Writers and presenters who share your passion for the blue side of Manchester produce written, visual and audio content to reflect the mood in the stands as well as in the press box.

Anyway, we’ll let you return to your festivities. Never in a million years did we think we would play beautiful football week after week with a world-class manager and amazing players in our squad. Pep played a huge role in that, but so did you.

Here’s another six years where you both hang around and you push Pep to get even better and win even more trophies at Liverpool’s expense.

All the best,

MCFC (reigning champions of England) x
