Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman has responded to an American newsman’s joking criticism of Winnipeg.
In 2014, Seth Denney, an anchor on NTV in Nebraska, found himself filling out a weather report when he — in a now viral video — asked why anyone would live in Winnipeg.
On the eve of Denny’s retirement this week, Winnipeg’s mayor responded with his own cheeky video highlighting the city’s attractions as well as “Nebraska’s biggest export” – Winnipeg Jets defender Neal Pionk.
Canadian prairies are colder than the North Pole, almost as cold as Mars
The mayor’s office confirmed that Denny’s co – author on NTV had approached the city about a kind of reaction to the Winnipeg comments – which have apparently become a popular segment among Nebraska viewers.
“I heard you were retiring, so I would like to send you some good wishes,” Bowman said in the video, ending with an invitation to Denney to visit the city … in February.
