A thief riding a pink bicycle with butterflies in New York City stole a 10-year-old girl from his cell phone before driving away on Wednesday, police said.

The girl went to school in Queens around noon. 8, when a man on a girl’s bicycle approached her, the New York Police Department said.

He then forcibly took her phone and set off, authorities said. The girl reported pain in her hand and was treated by a school nurse.

The suspected thief was caught on surveillance cameras and given snacks from a convenience store nearby.

The NYPD released photos of surveillance footage of the suspect on the bike and inside a grocery store buying snacks. Robberies in the city are a bit down, according to police data.

As of Sunday, the city experienced 9,647 reported robberies against 9,686 in the same time frame in 2020. However, assaults on rape increased by 16,889 reports. This figure represents a jump of 7% from the 15,787 reported last year.
