Toronto Fire investigates oil spill in Lake Ontario at Sugar Beach

The Toronto Fire is investigating an oil leak in Lake Ontario off Sugar Beach near Queens Quay.

Emergency personnel received the call around noon. 14.05 and was alerted to the incident by a caller who contacted CP24.

A fire boat was sent out to investigate. The Toronto Fire confirmed that there is oil on the water, but added that it was trying to determine the source of the spill.

Crews are investigating on the spot near Queens Quay behind Redpath Sugar Plant at 95 Queens Quay East.

The Toronto Wildlife Center said it was aware of the situation and had teams on standby to help all affected wildlife. The city of Toronto’s water department is also investigating the spill.
