Woody Harrelson was involved in a physical altercation in Washington, DC, but investigators believe he acted in “self-defense.”
Metropolitan Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck confirms to Yahoo Entertainment that authorities responded to a “reported assault” on Wednesday night on the roof terrace of the Watergate Hotel. The incident took place shortly after 11pm when a man who police say was “drunk” began taking pictures of Harrelson and his daughter.
That Real detective star went and asked the individual to delete the pictures when “a dispute arose.” The drunk man “sank” after Harrelson, who then hit the individual. There were several witnesses backing Harrelson’s story, and the award-winning actor is not under investigation. Sagerbeck points out accusations against the aggressor, Sternbeck states. The investigation continues.
Yahoo Entertainment reached out to Harrelson’s representative, but did not immediately receive a response.
Harrelson is in town shooting the HBO series The White House Plumbing installers, which is about the Watergate scandal.
