Kings Head pub, Chingford, from c1895 shows the assembly hall where many local meetings took place.
Near ‘The Green’, the pub had strong links to Chingford’s administration and law for generations.
From 1805 to 1840, the lords’ courts and the Vestry meetings were held at the king’s head.
The Welsh composer Ivor Novello was stationed at the Chingford Aerodrome during World War I and reportedly played the piano there.
