BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A man has been identified as a person of interest in a crime that spanned several Louisiana parishes Saturday morning, resulting in the death of at least one person. Several others were injured.

Several law enforcement agencies are looking for Matthew Reese Mire, 31, in connection with several shootings.

The first shooting happened around midnight Saturday in Livingston Parish, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.

On October 9, deputies with the LPSO were dispatched to a mobile home park in the 17,000 stretch of LA 444 in Livingston.

“Deputies found two victims – a man and a woman – with gunshot wounds,” Sheriff Jason Ard said. “He was beaten in the arm. The woman suffered injuries to her arm and leg. They were both transported for treatment. They are both expected to recover. The couple tells detectives that they heard a noise outside their home. They then witnessed someone barge in through their front door and fire shots. ”

Ard added that, on the basis of the LPSO’s investigation, Mire had been appointed a person of interest in the case. It is believed that Mire also stole a vehicle in Livingston to escape to a neighboring parish.

The vehicle is described as a blue 2013 Chevrolet Silverado.

“As our investigation continues, we are working with our local law enforcement partners to learn more. We do not think this is a random shot. It is believed that Mire knew the victims, ”Ard explained.

He further said that it appears that Mire is also responsible for a crime in Ascension Parish.

According to Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre, his deputies responded to a shooting at a home on Dutton Road in Prairieville around 3 p.m.

They were both taken to a hospital in Baton Rouge with life-threatening injuries. Pamela Adair, 37, died of her injuries while in hospital. The male victim remains in critical condition.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office said Mire is wanted for first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, unlawful use of weapons, domestic invasion and illegal possession of stolen items up to $ 25,000.

During a press conference on Saturday morning, Webre stated that the authorities have reason to believe that Adair was Mire’s half-sister. He also revealed that the man who was shot in Ascension Parish was allegedly Adair’s significant other.

Officials reported that upon further investigation, deputies were told that the gunman involved in this incident is also linked to an early-morning shooting incident in Livingston Parish. Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office both work closely together to help locate the person interested in these shootings.

“We are doing everything we can to bring this to an end and bring justice to the families involved,” Webre said.

After these two incidents, it is believed that Mire crossed paths with Louisiana State Police.

According to a Louisiana State Police spokesman, a Louisiana State Police trooper attempted to make a traffic stop on a blue Chevrolet Silverado on LA Hwy 42 east of LA Hwy. 73 (Jefferson Hwy) in East Baton Rouge Parish shortly after noon. 5 The spokesman added that the driver refused to stop, fired at the troop, the soldier returned, and the pursuit continued on LA 73 to Hoo Shoo Too Road, where shots were exchanged. The suspect fled the scene on Hoo Shoo Too Road at Tiger Bend Bridge, according to LSP.

Troops with Louisiana State Police and local law enforcement officers are currently searching for a suspect in the Hoo Shoo Too Road area at Tiger Bend Road following the traffic stop and pursuit. The white male suspect is believed to have exchanged shots with the soldier and is believed to be armed and dangerous. Citizens should avoid the area and immediately report suspicious activity to 911.

As the investigation progresses, the circumstances of the incident and additional suspicious information will be released immediately for the sake of public safety.

An investigation into Mire’s background shows he was arrested for domestic abuse in 2017 for allegedly threatening to hit a family member.
