Vice President Kamala Harris sold his apartment in Washington DC for $ 1.85 million earlier this week, according to a person familiar with the deal. Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff bought the apartment for $ 1.775 million in October 2017.

The 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment in the West End neighborhood of Washington DC sat on the market for about six months. Harris and Emhoff originally listed the 1,730-square-foot home in April for $ 1.995 million. They lowered their asking price to $ 1.85 million in July, according to real estate website Zillow. It is not immediately clear who the buyer is.

The agreement appears to be part of a larger liquidation strategy for Harris and Emhoff. In March, the vice president also sold an apartment she had owned for decades in San Francisco for $ 860,000. This property was contracted only nine days after it came on the market and sold for well over the price of $ 799,000. Harris had bought the apartment in 1998 for $ 299,000.

The other couple still has a couple of nice homes, including one that comes with permission from the government. In Washington DC, they live in the US Naval Observatory, the usual home of vice presidents. The couple moved there in April after the property received some renovations. They also own a 3,500-square-foot home in Los Angeles, which a county estimates at $ 3.2 million.

Forbes estimates that Harris and Emhoff are worth a total of $ 7 million.
