A celebration marking the Queen’s 70 years on the throne will be the ‘largest ever’ in Britain.

The anniversary gala will be held on a bumper holiday weekend from Thursday 2 to 5 June.

As many as 6,500 artists are set to take part in Sunday’s finals, with predictions that say a billion people could tune in to see.

Competition co-chair Nicholas Coleridge said it would surpass Queen Victoria’s diamond anniversary celebrations in 1897 in its size and splendor.

A parade through central London will feature ‘huge sculptures the size of four-storey houses’, including a giant dragon doll.

People from all 54 Commonwealth countries will participate when the city comes alive with street theater from 17 different groups, marching bands and circus acts.

Coleridge, president of the Victoria and Albert Museum, promised events for all corners of the country, MailOnline reports.

He said: ‘It’s going to be the biggest thing ever taken on, bigger we even think it was put on for Queen Victoria.

‘Although the anniversary is based in London because it will be a parade that goes around the parks, through Westminster, under the Admiralty Arch, down the mall, past Buckingham Palace and up past Constitution Hill, it will not be London-centered.

‘Northeast, Northwest, Plymouth, every MP I talk to asks me if their own constituency will be represented.’

He added: ‘We have a mysterious celebrity singer that if I said that, the whole team would be so angry with me that I probably would never be able to go back to the office.’

Communities across the country will be invited to sit together for a large anniversary lunch on Sunday with friends, family and neighbors.

It will be privately funded, organizers said, by a mix of business partners and individuals.

The actual date of her anniversary is February 6, 2022, when the festivities take place four months later.

The May holiday is moved to Thursday, June 2, and the extra holiday is Friday, June 3.

Coleridge said he hopes the festivities will strengthen people’s love for Britain.

He added: ‘The BBC believes it can be seen by approaching a billion people.

‘I suppose they might be exaggerating a bit, but it’s going to be huge because it’s going everywhere.

‘By the end of it, I hope we’ll feel recharged, highly patriotic and very much a nation when we all celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.’
