Mail Rail occasionally resumes walks through the old railway tunnels and adds an extra detour for Christmas to a part that is not normally accessible.
During the tour through the tunnels, guides will reveal stories about the underground railway from over 100 years – from the construction in the early 1900s, through the heyday in the middle of the century to the final closure in 2003.
The party tunnel takes a detour and explores a loop of the tunnels not normally accessible on the museum’s tunnel walks – this is the part of the tunnel that was painted white by the post office staff and then decorated to create a Christmas party trip for the post office staff when the line was open . It is usually not included in the tunnel tours.
Tunnel Walks costs £ 55 pr. Person, and the events last about 90 minutes.
The festive tours take place at:
- Friday, December 17, 6:00 and 6:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, December 28 at 15.00, 15.30, 18.00 and 18.30
They must be booked in advance and tickets go on sale on Thursday 14 October here.
