A man had approached the girl and made junk comments to her and invited her to go with him, police said.

After the suspect became powerful, the teenager managed to escape before running home and calling the police.

Now, a picture has emerged of a man of the alleged attempted kidnapping showing handcuffs sticking out of the back pocket of his jeans while standing at a bus stop.

A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnapping, possession of an offensive weapon and failure to appear in court.

Officers said he is still in custody and their investigations are ongoing.

A witness said: ” I saw the girl with her mother and there seemed to be some kind of tension between her and the man, but I did not see the abduction attempt.

“She looked scared of him. Police arrived and there were four to five cars.

” Yesterday I handcuffed him, but they were not the ones he was wearing when he was arrested by police.

” I do not know if they were some kind of toy.

” The man lived here and I’ve seen him walk up and down the street every day.

” He told me he had been in the army.

” He did not look like a danger and we could have a decent conversation. ‘

Another witness said: ” I saw him being arrested, but I could not see the actual abduction.

” There were so many police cars around, it felt like we were in a war zone or in the middle of a terrorist attack.

” I’ve seen him many times before, he lurked around the area and bus stops talking to everyone. He’s out all the time.

” I’ve never seen him do anything dangerous to anyone before.

” He did not say anything when he was arrested. ”

It comes after another possible abduction attempt at Tottenham last month.

A teenage girl was seen screaming for help before being pulled into a black Mercedes in Plevna Crescent, Tottenham on 18 September.

The girl was seen trying to get out of the car through the rear window.

She was pulled back into the car before driving fast, witnesses said.
