Outgoing New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and First Lady Chirlane McCray are fixing up their excavations after Gracie Mansion.

The couple’s three-story Park Slope home will have an addition across the two lower floors and a complete renovation inside and out, according to the New York Post.

They are ready to leave the mayor’s palace at the end of de Blasio’s period at the end of the year. His administration is making a push to see through some reorganisations before he is out of the office.

Temporary plywood fences have been placed near the property. City-mandated information signs describe the work as “commercial” and show plans for the renovation.

An urban building permit also describes an addition to be added to the back of the townhouse.
A subcontractor working on the job said the house gets a paint job, floor molding, windows and siding.

“We’ve inflating the place,” Robert Ferrarin said. “We make it look beautiful.”

McCray and de Blasio rented out the house while living in the Gracie Mansion after de Blasio took office in early 2014. Renting the home brought in $ 54,000 last year, according to the Post. The house is currently uninhabited.

They also own a townhouse at 384 11th Street in Park Slope, which they also rent out.
