Ukraine’s international Oleksandr Zinchenko has revealed that he is ‘on his way’ to fitness for Manchester City.
At the back of his Euro 2020 achievements, the 24-year-old has only played three matches this season for the Premier League champions – including 90 minutes against RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
This is due to a calf problem that has kept the left foot sideline since mid-September.
As teammates from Etihad Stadium drove out to all four corners of the planet for World Cup qualifying service with their respective nations, the 46-cap Ukraine star remained in Manchester instead to work on a comeback for the following club matches.
Zinchenko would have acted against Finland and Bosnia-Herzegovina if he had been passed suitably.
Instead, there is a return to City against Burnley – on Saturday 16 October at the Etihad Stadium – on the cards, but will Zinchenko increase his recovery in time to play in that game?

In his absence, versatile Joao Cancelo has been deployed at left-back by Pep Guardiola.
Former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder and PSV midfielder is keen to keep City fans up to date with his current condition – with Zinchenko seen being stepped through on an exercise bike.

With a simple caption to his 1.4 million supporters, Ukraine’s defender said: “On the way.”
Ever since he was relegated to the Premier League from Russian FK UFA in 2016 – for £ 1.8 million – Zinchenko has played 103 games for City, scoring three goals and giving seven assists to his team-mates.
