Donald Hickey is scheduled to appear in court in Ottawa on October 27.
The province’s civilian police watchdog has charged a police officer in Ontario with a number of sexual assaults after investigating a 1990s complaint.
Donald Hickey is scheduled to appear in court in Ottawa on October 27, the Special Investigations Unit said in a press release on Friday.
On May 18, the SIU received a complaint of sexual assault that allegedly took place between 1995 and 1998 in the former Rideau Township, which is now part of the city of Ottawa.
“Since the case is before the courts, and taking into account the reasonable legal interests of the accused, SIU will not comment further on the investigation,” the unit said.
SIU’s civilian investigators are investigating the conduct of police officers, which may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault or the firing of a firearm at a person.
