Donna Gray, City of Ottawa’s general manager for community and social services, said in a note to the city council on Wednesday that eight more employees and one visitor had tested positive for COVID-19 at the home on Perrier Avenue in Vanier.

A total of 35 people — six of them residents — have received COVID-19 during the outbreak, which began a week ago.

All of those infected are medically stable, Gray said, noting that some of those who had tested positive during the outbreak were fully immunized.

“However, she added,” all of the currently approved COVID-19 vaccines are effective in reducing the risk of serious illness, hospitalization and death. “

Gray said a staff vaccination clinic at the center was scheduled for later this week with assistance from Ottawa Public Health.
