Travel restrictions have been lifted on all trips to the UK from the US, meaning the Sussex were not to be quarantined on arrival – but palace aides have reportedly not yet been made aware of their plans.

MailOnline has contacted representatives of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for comment.

The statue of Princess Diana was unveiled in the gardens of Kensington Palace in early July.

Commissioned by William and Harry in honor of their mother, who died when they were only 15 and 12 years old, it had been unveiled by the end of 2017.

Ian Rank-Broadley, who sculpted the statue, said earlier that his work depicting Princess Diana in the ‘more confident’ later years of her life aims to reflect her ‘warmth, elegance and energy’.

Prince Harry flew into the UK to join his brother William at the unveiling ceremony and the day they were seen chatting together as they put their feud aside to honor their mother in what would have been her 60th birthday .

The statue shows Diana wearing a slim blouse with an open neck, a wide belt and a pencil skirt, while her hands are gently placed on the shoulders of two of the children – a boy and a girl, where the girl holds the princess’ hand.

Rank-Broadley’s artwork was erected in the sunken garden of the palace, one of the places Diana loved most at the palace.

The square has been redesigned over the last two years and has more than 4,000 individual flowers, including forget-me-nots, which were loved by the princess.

And in August, the statue was specially opened for the successful to mark the first anniversary of her death since the long-awaited memorial was unveiled.

The princess was killed on August 31, 1997, and this year it is 24 years since the fatal car accident in Paris.

Due to the pandemic, Kensington Palace and its gardens have been running with reduced opening days and are usually only available to the public from Wednesday to Sunday.

But the Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) said special arrangements had been made to allow visitors to see the statue from the Cradle Walk around the sunken garden, where it stands from 3pm to 5pm on 31st August.

‘Not what was her station, but does she have a heart?’ Moving lines of verse engraved by the statue of Diana

In front of it is a paving stone engraved with an extract after the poem The Measure of A Man by Albert Schweitzer, which was read at the memorial service in 2007 to mark the 20th anniversary of her death.

It read: ‘These are the units to measure value. By this woman as a woman regardless of birth. Not what was her station? But did she have a heart? How did she play her God-given role?

Schweitzer was a French theologian, author, and philosopher who lived from 1875 to 1965. He is known for his writings on Christian mysticism.

In 1952, he received a Nobel Peace Prize for a philosophical work and became the eighth Frenchman to receive this award.

Princess Diana was known for enjoying poetry and once got one in a silver frame by Dodi Al Fayed. Harry has also recited poems on public occasions, as has his wife Meghan.
