May Bank Holiday Weekend is moved to Thursday, June 2, and an additional holiday Friday, June 3 will be a four-day weekend.

Although we have some time to wait, this is what we know about what to look forward to.

This historic event will reflect on the reign of Her Majesty and her influence on Britain and the world since 1952.

The four-day weekend begins on Thursday with Trooping the Color, while on Saturday a Thanksgiving is held for the Queen’s reign in St Paul’s Cathedral.

We are very lucky in the capital as a giant “Platinum Pageant” is planned through the streets of London for the grand finale on the last day.

Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Ed Sheeran line up to perform and are “at the top of the list” for organizers. Lady Helen Mirren and legendary comic actor Stephen Fry are set to star in a Best of British cast.

Giant dragons the size of London buses and animals as tall as three-story houses will parade the streets.

If that wasn’t enough, more than 6,500 street artists will be attending the street parade on Sunday, June 5 next year.

It will run through Westminster, under the Admiralty Arch, down the mall, past Buckingham Palace and up past Constitution Hill, where military and NHS heroes are taking part.

Sunday’s competition will consist of three actions, with the first to see both serving troops and veterans take part in a march along The Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.

The BBC has predicted that the showcase competition on the last day will be watched by around one billion people worldwide.

But before that, in the second act, titled Celebration, we will see a puppet dragon larger than a double-decker bus with a wingspan on the banks of The Mall.

Others participating will include a trapeze artist hung under a giant balloon printed with a picture of the queen as well as acrobats and other artists.

The specially written fairy tale There Once Is A Queen by acclaimed author Sir Michael Morpurgo will be brought to life through artists of the day.

On Saturday, the Queen will be accompanied by family members to the Derby in Epsom Downs with a special concert outside Buckingham Palace in the evening.

Speaking at the Conservative Party’s conference in Manchester, party co-chair Nicholas Coleridge said the event would be bigger than the celebrations during Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897.

He told the Mail: “It’s going to be the biggest thing ever taken on, bigger we even think it was put on for Queen Victoria.

“It’s not going to be London – centered. We even have a giant map that makes sure we have people from all parts of our country and indeed all parts of the Commonwealth.

“We are going to have people from all 54 Commonwealth countries coming to take part in this amazing parade.”

Members of the royal family will of course play a key role along with the famous procession of coaches and famous faces.

“At the end of it, I hope we’ll feel energetic, highly patriotic and very much a nation when we all celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.”

Members of the public will be invited to apply to attend this special event and details of the ballot paper for UK residents to secure audience tickets will be released over time.
