Police are investigating a shooting at a barber in east London in which three men were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds.

Police are chasing a perpetrator after the shooting in Newham. No arrests have been made yet.

The Metropolitan Police Force said officers were called to reports of a shooting on Upton Lane, Forest Gate just before 7pm on Friday.

Police along with ambulance staff in London found three men with gunshot wounds. One also had stab wounds.

They were taken to a hospital in east London and their condition is unknown.

Met said police are investigating the incident, which is not being treated as terrorism, and a crime scene remains in place.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 18:58 tonight to Upton Lane, E7, to report that a number of people were injured.

“We sent a range of resources to the site: three ambulance crews, three doctors from our joint task force, a clinical team leader, an incident response officer and an advanced paramedic.

“We also sent teams from the London Air Ambulance.

“We treated three people on the spot and took all three to a major trauma center.”

A § 60 order giving officers greater stop and search powers has been issued in the Newham district until 3pm on Saturday.
