Welcome to our new Chief of Staff and Senior Vice President

The University of the District of Columbia welcomes Monique Guillory, PhD, as the new Chief of Staff and Senior Vice President of the President’s Office. Dr. Guillory is a 25-year veteran higher education administrator with extensive leadership experience in program development, accreditation processes, STEM pipelines, and student success.

Dr. Guillory joins the UDC from the Morehouse School of Medicine, where she served as Chief of Staff and Chief of Staff of the Office of the President and Dean. In this role, she coordinated the institutional response to COVID-19 and spearheaded the school’s phased Return to Campus efforts at the height of the May 2020 pandemic. as they navigated the challenges of returning students to their respective campuses in the middle of COVID-19.

Dr. Guillory is a former member of the substantive change committee of the Middle States Commission for Higher Education (MSCHE) and is an experienced intergovernmental evaluator for institutional accreditation. She also served as a member-elected member of the Middle States Regional Council for the College Board. Dr. Guillory earned his Ph.D. in comparative literature and performance studies from New York University, where she won the Arthur J. Schomburg Award for Excellence in the Humanities. She is co-editor of “Soul: Black Power, Politics and Pleasure” (NYU: 1998) and is 1991 Mellon Fellow. In his new role at UDC, Dr. Guillory serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet and oversees the areas of human resources, advancement, marketing and communications, and institutional effectiveness.
