According to a report by The Athletic, West Ham United, Brighton and Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace are all keen to buy Manchester City star James McAtee.

The 18-year-old is one of City’s brightest young talents. He has played nine games for the youth side this season, and has scored 12 goals and given three assists in all competitions.

It’s a phenomenal record and it feels like it’s only a matter of time before he becomes a household name in the Premier League. However, it is far from easy to break into Manchester City’s first team.

McAtee, obviously an attacking midfielder, likes to have Kevin de Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva to displace, which is unlikely to happen anytime soon. That’s why West Ham, Palace and Brighton want to lure him away.

West Ham and Crystal Palace are keeping an eye on James McAtee

McAtee’s current contract at Manchester City ends in just over 18 months. He is yet to sign a new deal at the club, but Pep Guardiola’s side have no intention of paying him yet.

The report claims that Brighton submitted a bid of £ 8 million for the teenage prodigy, but City rejected it immediately. They will keep him at all costs, but if McAtee does not sign a new deal before the end of this season, they could be forced to sell him.

The report claims that along with Brighton, West Ham and Crystal Palace are also interested in his services. All three clubs are keeping a close eye on the situation and are ready to strike if the teenager is put up for sale.

McAtee has been compared to David Silva

Almost every football fan will agree that David Silva is one of the greatest attacking midfielders to have graced the Premier League. The Spaniard is one of the biggest reasons City have won so many titles over the last decade.

McAtee would love to emulate Silva in City, a player he has been compared to. He has been called ‘Salford Silva’ thanks to his position, style and the way he moves across the pitch with the ball at his feet.

West Ham, Brighton and Palace are right in keeping an eye on McAtee, who is one of the most talented players of his age in the country at the moment.

It is unlikely that Cityzens will let him leave, but if they do, the club he lands will have beaten gold, just as City did with Silva all those years ago.
