Ontario reports 535 new laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases Sunday and two related deaths.

There are 58 new cases in Ottawa, according to provincial data marking one of the largest daily cases in Ontario’s 34 public health regions.

There were 98 cases in Toronto, 63 in the York region, 45 in Peel and 39 in Hamilton reported Sunday.

Cases also continue to spread in the surrounding regions, with 17 new cases identified in the Eastern Ontario Public Health Unit a day after 13 new cases were confirmed in the region, which includes Cornwall and Alexandria.

There were eight confirmed cases in the Hastings region, five in Kingston and one in Leeds, Grenville and Lanark.

Of the province’s 535 new cases, 388 have been found in people who are either unvaccinated or whose vaccination status is unknown, while 147 cases are in fully vaccinated people.

Ontario administered 29,247 vaccine doses on Saturday and has now administered 22,071,730 doses. It represents 87 percent of the eligible (12-plus) population with at least one dose and 82.2 percent with both doses.

There are 156 patients in the hospital and a further 153 in intensive care units across the province.

There have been 591,866 in all cases and 9,790 deaths in Ontario. Another 539 people have recovered and 577,490 cases are now considered resolved.
