A man’s deadly shooting in Louisiana left a state force and a woman dead, police said.
Matthew Mire, 31, was remanded in custody Saturday after an extensive chase, Louisiana State Police said Saturday at 10 p.m.
Mire is suspected of having an ambush on 19-year-old veteran State Trooper Adam Gaubert while sitting in his car in Ascension Parish on Saturday morning.
“Trooper Gaubert embodied everything we stand for; honor, duty, selfless service and courage, ”said a post on social media from the state police.
“In the days to come, we will mourn his tragic death and honor his service to our ward and the citizens of Louisiana.”
That shooting is suspected to be the latest in a series of attacks from Mire since just after midnight Friday, which went into Saturday. The man shot two people in Livingston Parish before shooting two more in Ascension, including Pamela Adair, 37, who was killed, KLFY-TV reported.
Police believe the suspect then fired at another troop trying to pull him out during a pursuit, the station reported.
The squad was unharmed. After a shot and a short chase, Mire fled on foot – which resulted in a massive chase.
