A woman who lost her driving license somewhere in Manchester after another accidentally picked it up says she is desperate to find it before embarking on a ‘months in progress’ road trip abroad.

Leander Vernon, 31, of Middleton, handed over her driver’s license to Black Dog NQ staff on Wednesday night (October 6) when she was visiting to play pool with her friends.

After the group finished playing, Leander forgot to pick up his ID when they left the Church Street venue.

When she called back the next day, she discovered that the bar was no longer in possession of the ID.

“I left my ID behind the bar, but I completely forgot to pick it up when we left,” Leander tells MENNE

“I called back the next day and the staff said they could not find it but would look for me.

“I called back again last Friday and the manager checked CCTV and saw that a girl had picked up my ID and thought it was hers.

“She came back a little later to pick up her own ID, but forgot to hand mine back.”

Leander said ‘time is crucial’ to try to find her driver’s license as she has to travel abroad on Tuesday for a week.

She says the ID is in ‘perfect condition’ as it is fairly new.

“I try not to be too angry about it because these things happen,” she explains.

“If it happened at another time, I would just call the DVLA and order a new one, but I have a road trip on the way and I have to pick up a car on Tuesday.

“We had planned a whole car trip across Croatia – I am the only one who can drive, so it will change everything drastically if I can not get it back in time.

“This is our first holiday since lockdown, we have all been really happy about it and planned it all.

“We were originally supposed to go in July, but we’ve had to push it back twice, and that’s the last possible time we’re able to go.”

Earlier today (Saturday), Black Dog NQ took to social media to try to help Leander get his ID back – with the tempting promise of free pool and beer.

A post on Twitter wrote the Northern Quarter bar: “Did you (or maybe someone you know) play pool with us on Wednesday night and took Leander Vernon’s ID home by accident?

“Leander needs it to go on vacation in a few days – if you can directly lead us to the location of it, it’s beer and pool on me.”

Leander says she has no one to blame for the accident, but is worried it could end up in the wrong hands.

“The bar has been amazing since we found out what was going on,” she says.

“They have turned off positions and offers to get my license back and also offered to pay for a replacement.

“But it’s a concern where it can end up being honest because of the different types of scams.

“I know it sounds pretty dramatic, but you just do not know.”
