Created by Anzi DeBenedetto (NYU Tisch ’21) and Nate Sassoon (Oxford Music ’21), produced and assisted by Catrin Ody, Sentenced to this vessel tells a story of two friends who write and compose a play that intends to clarify where the performance ends and reality begins. Intervened by Music, which has freedom of action, things get sticky, the narrative begins to crumble, and they have to struggle to gather everything before the end. It’s a story about two becoming two.

The live and recorded music includes conversations on stage with acoustic guitar, cello, piano, mandolin, accordion, ice cubes, melodica, accordion, drums and a wine glass. Anzi, Nate, the audience and (perhaps most uniquely) the music are all characters in this piece.

Sentenced to this vessel is a new work that challenges existing notions of true and false. Two childhood friends, Mr. DeBenedetto and Mr. Sassoon, has combined forces to explore what it means and how it feels to perform. Piles down in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania, they have found that the line between performance and reality is not final; the piece is intended to prove this thesis.

Tickets are $ 35.21 (General recording) and $ 19.21 (Student). For all inquiries contact Catrin Ody: sentictedtothisvessel@gmail.com | (702) 843 7622.
