Alphabet has confirmed that it plans to make Google’s search results page more of a rolling news feed, similar to how Twitter works.

Big Moments has been running for over a year, with the tech giant working to cure a timely mix of news articles, sports scores and major events.

According to The Information, this plan arose when Google Search struggled to keep up with the rapid events of recent years, such as last year’s protests from Black Lives Matter and riots in Capitol Hill on January 6th.

It follows the company’s decision when coronavirus hit in early 2020 to integrate data and images from medical authorities in a prominent position.

While this is a good idea, of course, it stops Google’s constant claims that it’s a web platform rather than a news publisher.
