It is ‘Freedom Day’ and you are fully vaccinated in NSW.

There are a few ways you can get your COVID-19 vaccination certificate on your phone, and there are a few different apps you need to navigate when the state begins to reopen.

Now you have probably already got the Service NSW app on your mobile and used it to check in.

If not, you will download it as NSW Health will tell you about a place you have checked in as a COVID-19 positive case in the future.

It is also much faster than filling out the web form.

How to use the Service NSW app

Once you have the Service NSW app on your phone and use it to check in, just scan the QR code with the phone’s camera and the app’s check-in page opens automatically. The app can remember your information for an even faster check-in next time. You can also use it to check out a place for more accurate contact tracking.

How to check in

  1. Scan the QR code with your phone camera – the app’s check-in page opens automatically.
  2. Enter your contact information.
  3. Add addicts (if applicable).
  4. Select ‘Check in’.
  5. A confirmation will appear on your screen after you check in.

How to get your vaccination certificate

There are a lot of ways to get your COVID-19 vaccination certificate or your immunization history statement.

However, the Express Plus Medicare app and your Medicare online account in your MyGov are the best ways.

Fair warning – if you do not yet need to connect your Medicare to your MyGov, do so first. And it takes a bit to do. The steps are described here on the Services Australia website. You need to know things like the last date you visited a doctor, the location of this practice and the name of your doctor.

There is a tool here to help you create your online accounts if you have not already created them.

If you already have a MyGov account and you have linked your Medicare account to it. It’s all pretty straightforward, just download and configure the Medicare app on your phone.
