Actor Mark Wahlberg opens his first Wahlburgers restaurant in Australia this Christmas – here’s what you need to know

Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg is set to open his first Wahlburgers restaurant in Australia just steps from the Sydney Opera House.

The casual dining room is expected to open for Christmas – and will run all day from breakfast until late in the evening, offering a full menu featuring a few Aussie classics.

The American burger chain is famous for its fresh minced burgers, entrees and sandwiches, stuffed tots and frothy shakes.

With stunning views of the Sydney Harbor Bridge and just a few doors down from United Cinemas Opera Quays, the place has indoor and outdoor seating that can accommodate up to 250 diners.

‘I’m delighted to be able to announce Opera Quays on Circular Quay as the location of our first Wahlburgers in Australia. After seeing the place in person, I think we have chosen one of the most iconic venues in the world, ‘said Wahlberg.

The American burger chain, owned by American film actor and his brothers Paul and Donnie, has invested $ 50 million in opening 20 restaurants in Australia and New Zealand over the next five years with plans to hire more than 500 workers.

‘We are so excited to be working with Mark, Donnie and chef Paul Wahlberg on the opening of the first of 20 Wahlburgers across Australia and New Zealand,’ said Sam Mustaca, CEO of Wahlburgers Australia and United Cinemas.

‘In my opinion, this is truly the best Wahlburgers place on the planet overlooking the terrace over the Sydney Harbor Bridge and next to the Opera House, this will be a Wahlburgers experience like no other.’

Wahlburgers is a casual restaurant and bar founded by the Wahlberg brothers.

The chain currently has 60 locations throughout North America and Europe. For the past two years, Fast Casual has named Wahlburgers Top 100 Movers & Shakers.

The Mile 22 star arrived in Australia last November to check out the venue and meet with his Australian partners Sam and Roy Mustaca, who own United Cinemas, Australia’s largest independently owned cinema chain.

After a successful career as an opera singer, Roy United Cinemas started in the 80s with a cinema on Collaroy Beach on Sydney’s northern beaches.

Over the last 37 years, the chain has grown to over 57 monitors across Australia and New Zealand with 19 more monitors currently being built.
