Next week Neighbor in Australia, with a custody battle between David, Aaron and Nicolette, a long-term friendship is threatened …
These episodes will be shown in the UK in late October.
There is nothing like a custody battle to tear their loved ones apart, and it seems like Neighbor race towards the end of the year, is a battle threatening to threaten a long and much loved friendship.
As viewers well know, ever since Nicolette Stone (Charlotte Stone) returned to Erinsborough, she has been overly protective of her daughter Isla (Axelle Austin) – the daughter she was to hand over to another couple.
Look, Nicolette was only supposed to act as a surrogate for local couple David Tanaka (Takaya Honda) and Aaron Brennan (Matt Wilson). After a drunken night, the trio decided to do insemination themselves using a practical turkey bastard.
A few weeks later, they were thrilled to hear that the child they longed for had been conceived.
As the months passed, Nicolette’s ties to the family weakened, and just weeks before the birth, she ran away. After first returning, this time with the baby on the outside, Nicolette has writhed back into the family.
Unfortunately for David and Aaron, Nicolette is not happy to respect their original co-parenting agreement, where the boys would be the primary caregivers, with Nic acting as a kind of aunt.
Nevertheless, the boys feel like they should have at least some form of custody of Isla, and decide this week to pursue a 50/50 deal.
Nicolette does not have a bar of it though!
When the idea of shared custody hovers over her, she immediately shuts it down and refuses to entertain the thought herself.
For the boys to hear this, it breaks their heart.
And what’s more, TV -uge reports that it forces Nicolette’s mother and the boys’ dear friend Jane (Annie Jones) to an impossible decision.
She feels trapped between a rock and a hard place – does she choose to back her daughter, whose decisions she certainly questions, or the two men she has wronged? She can see both sides of the very messy story.
But she is called to action when she hears her friend Paul (Stefan Dennis) discuss legal options on the phone.
Jane jumps right in to stop it and asks Paul to see the sense. A custody battle that is long and protracted in the courts, as this can be, can result in a huge cost for all parties involved.
It seems that Jane may have asked a little too much when she considered not so long ago that she greeted Paul with a slap and accused him of being a child trafficker.
Knowing that she can only do her best, Jane admits that she is willing to give Paul another chance and gives him the chance to redeem their friendship after what has happened. When she tries to play the master in her own game, she makes a deal with him.
If he chooses to keep lawyers out of the situation, she will forgive him for all his misdeeds – including his attempts to force a baby out of her daughter.
But when he realizes what’s at stake, Paul decides to go ahead with his plan. This time, doubling his bid for David and Aaron to win custody, the ruthless businessman decides to hire a criminal lawyer instead of a family lawyer, believing they want the cojones required to win such a lawsuit. sag.
It’s a kick in the gut for poor Jane, who thought her friendship would be enough to stop Paul from pursuing custody.
When Jane sees where his true feelings lie, he has no choice but to draw a line through the friendship once and for all.
Old friends, torn apart, Jane and Paul are divided, both determined to back their children up.
In the end, only one can get what they want – David or Nicolette?
But with so much at stake, will Paul and Jane ever be able to reconcile their once close friendship when all is said and done?
