Greater Geelong has registered 9 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of active infections to 119.

The new cases are among 1,612 across Victoria announced Monday, with 122 of them in the Victoria region.

677 people are currently in the hospital, 133 are on the ICU and 94 are on ventilators.

Two new cases have also been detected on the Surf Coast.

Active cases in Geelong have doubled in one week and tripled in the last ten days.

There were 49 six days ago and only 29 two weeks ago.

The Wyndham has added another 96 cases, bringing the total number of infections to 1,226.

Meanwhile, health officials are becoming increasingly concerned about Mildura in the northwest of the state.

36 new cases have been reported on Monday as the local government area continues that it is a seven day lockdown.
