VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A Vancouver police officer was found guilty of sexual assault on Wednesday.
Jagraj “Roger” Berar, 51, was charged in November 2019 after a months-long study conducted by the RCMP. According to a statement released at the time, the attack took place in Whistler in July.
“During the course of the investigation, it was learned that the subject of the complaint was an officer of the Vancouver Police Department,” the statement said.
The RCMP believes that this was an isolated incident in which individuals were known to each other. Police do not believe the charges relate to his employment as a police officer. ”
A spokesman for the BC prosecution says Berar will next go to court on January 6, 2022, after which a date will be set for sentencing.
The spokesman would not comment on the relationship between Berar and the victim, but it has been reported that she was an officer.
