If you are looking for an option for back 4 blood drop equipment or a button to pull a particular muffler or muzzle of your gun, you are one of many. Players in Back 4 Blood have found that the ability to remove attachments from their weapons does not appear to be present, despite the fact that it is a pretty obvious feature that any experienced cleaner would want.
For that reason, we correctly explain whether you can drop attachments in Back 4 Blood, what the limitations are, and what is likely to change in the near future around this feature.
Can you drop attachments in Back 4 Blood?
No, at the time of writing, there is no Back 4 Blood drop weapon, function or button you can use, despite the fact that it feels like a very obvious thing to include. Once an attachment has been put in an empty space on your weapon, the only way to get rid of it is to find a replacement accessory, apparently because rifle maintenance works according to the custom of “dead men’s shoes”.
So to explain: let’s say you have a Vector, one of Back 4 Blood’s best weapons around (no matter what anyone tells you), and there’s nothing in its optics attachment slot. Then you find, pick up and attach a high zoom view in that castle. Not exactly what a short-range gun like this needs, but the problem is that it’s locked in place until you can find another kind of range to swap it for. When you pick up the new one, the high zoom view is automatically released and falls to the ground for someone else to pick up if they want to. Until then, however, you can not unlock the high zoom view in any way; you need to get a replacement optics for it.
Can you swap attachments between weapons in Back 4 Blood?
No, unless you use the principle described above, there is no way to transfer weapons from one gun to another without a third loose attachment to act as an intermediary, making it all a horrible fox / chicken / corn riddle.
So if you find a purple gun with no attachments but you keep a green one with lots of high quality attachments you want to keep, you are basically stuck unless there are several unused attachments of each type lying in nearby you can use to pry them out of the first gun. It’s as “simple” as that.
We do not know if the ability to modify or release attachments will be added by developer Turtle Rock Studios in the future, as far as we know, no comment has been made or declared in any way. It is possible that the developers prefer to leave it as it is to make difficult decisions in the middle of the campaign, or perhaps change it in the future for player friendliness. Either way, we update this guide accordingly.
