Part of what is being described as the city’s largest regeneration project ever, the redevelopment of Red Bank was able to deliver 5,500 homes on a dirt beach between Manchester Victoria and Collyhurst.

The project will be delivered by Manchester The City Council and the Far East consortium and joint venture have launched a consultation on its proposals for the Red Bank quarter, one of seven included in the 4 billion Victoria North strategy. £.

The plans for Red Bank will see the transformation of largely brown land north of the city center into a mixed community with a focus on low-emission housing and sustainable riverfront, JV said.

A key element of the scheme will be that the underutilized Irk River opens up with green areas on its banks.

FEC and the City Council have secured DKK 51.6 million. Pounds from the Government Housing Infrastructure Fund to provide important infrastructure works and address some of the challenges posed by the site’s past industrial uses.

Bam Nuttal and Arup lead the team delivering the infrastructure works, while Maccreanor Lavington and Schulze + Grassov lead the preparation of a master plan for Red Bank

Infrastructure funding will also pay for major improvements to St Catherine’s Wood, which forms the first phase of the 113-acre City River Park.

The hearing runs from 14 October and invites community stakeholders to provide their input to the Red Bank district’s master plan and inform the design process.

Sir Richard Leese, Head of Manchester City Council, said: “This consultation provides an opportunity to help guide the development of Red Bank and play a tangible role in the transformation of this part of the city.

“Victoria North is an investment program that was once in a generation, and we all have a chance to shape it. I would urge as many as possible to have their voices heard. ”

Red Bank is part of the strategic planning framework for Victoria North, formerly known as the Northern Gateway.

The first element of Red Bank’s regeneration is already underway. Victoria Riverside will deliver 634 homes across three towers off Dantzic Street. Plans for North View, located on a neighboring lot, were approved in 2017, and the project proposes an additional 415 apartments.

Overall, the Victoria North master plan could see the delivery of 15,000 homes across North Manchester over the next 15 years.

Victoria North covers 390 acres and consists of seven neighborhoods: Collyhurst Village, South Collyhurst, New Cross, New Town, Red Bank, Vauxhall Gardens and Smedley Dip & Eggington Street.
