Southeast Queenslanders should prepare to be hit by more wild weather today, with severe thunderstorms expected to bring harmful winds, heavy rain and heavy hail.

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued a thunderstorm warning to residents of Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Scenic Rim and the Gold Coast.

The bill said a low-pressure system pushed several storm fronts ahead of itself as it swept east across the state toward Moreton Bay.

The Bureau said the system had triggered thunderstorms and heavy rainfall is expected to lead to flooding.

A general thunderstorm has also been issued for the southeast coast and parts of the Darling Downs, Granite Belt and Wide Bay region.

More on the way.
