Twitter is testing a new ad format on its platform to increase ad revenue.
Twitter revenue product lead Says Bruce Falck the social media app places ads in Tweet conversations in a global trial for select iOS and Android users.
As part of the test, ads will appear after the first, third, or eighth response during a tweet.
“We see a great opportunity to build an advertising offering that creates value and adapts incentives for creators and advertisers,” says Falck.
“As we experiment with this format in the coming months, we will focus on understanding how it works and how it affects people and conversations around it.”
Twitter tests different frequencies, layouts, context-relevant ads and different insertion points and more as part of the trial before deciding whether to implement the new format.
Falck says creators are likely to be able to sign up for the format and earn a portion of the ad revenue.
Twitter has released a list of new products in recent months, including revenue-generating products such as subscriptions and ticketing events.
