The Donald C. Jamieson Academy in Burin has suspended classroom teaching in connection with the COVID outbreak in the region.

Monday will be used as a transition day, with online learning expected to begin on Tuesday.

The move is made to give public health officials time to conduct their investigation.

The school is the second on the Burin Peninsula to close due to the situation where the Sacred Heart Academy announced the transition to online tuition on Friday.

As of Friday’s update, there are 25 cases of COVID-19 associated with the cluster, 22 of which are in children under 12 years of age.
