Children return to the classroom on Monday after weeks of learning from home. On Monday, children in preschool, kindergarten, grade 1, grade 2 and grade fill the classrooms in the elementary schools, while grades 9 and 10 students join year 11 and 12 students on campus. Students in years 7 and above must wear masks, as must all staff, while children in years 3 to 6 will be encouraged to wear them at their parents’ discretion. The area’s daily number of cases fell in individual digits for the first time in more than a month on Sunday. Nine cases of the virus were reported, although test numbers have also dropped. The latest figures have 20 people in hospital with the virus, 11 of them on intensive care and four requiring ventilation.
