She undoubtedly turned heads at an exclusive Melbourne Cup celebration event hosted by Lexus in Sydney on Wednesday.

But according to rules made by race organizers, Delta Goodrem’s outfit choice was a rebellious one – as anything with a cut-out detail is now considered ‘unacceptable’ in a dress code crackdown.

Two weeks after the Australian Turf Club (ATC) revealed that “cut-out” dresses were banned, the Victorian Race Club (VRC) issued the same guidelines – meaning Delta’s sleek ensemble was not acceptable for the event.

She turned to the side to reveal the cheeky, backless element of her outfit, and she was outfitted with a pink sailor hat, red statement earrings, a designer purse and purple heels.

While Delta enjoyed the event today, club members warned this week that it will “strictly enforce” the rules during the Melbourne Cup carnival, which starts on Saturday 30 October and ends on 6 November.

Other garments that are banned include jeans, shorts, leggings and bulky jackets.

However, this rule does not apply to ordinary access areas.
