Five women from Birmingham have been arrested in connection with a double fatal shooting.

Greater Manchester Police detained the five after Cheriff Tall, 21, and Abayomi ‘Junior’ Ajose, 36, were both shot in the head at a party in Moss Side on June 21, 2020.

Officers traveled down to Birmingham to carry out dawn raids at five addresses across Handsworth, Birmingham and Stourbridge – with the support of West Midlands Police and the National Crime Agency.

The women – between 33 and 24 years old – were arrested on Wednesday (October 27), suspected of having helped a perpetrator, and have been remanded in custody for questioning.

Police have a main suspect who has disappeared and is believed to have fled abroad.

The suspect was one of a group of about 20 people from Birmingham who attended the party.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Wilkinson of GMP’s Major Investigation Unit said: “The murder of these two men caused shock waves throughout the Moss Side community, which is still being felt more than a year after the shooting, and the families have been left with many unanswered questions and no one to hold responsible for the death of their loved one.

“Our detectives have been working continuously on this case for over a year, gathering all available evidence both forensic and from witnesses, and examining all clues and possibilities thoroughly and exhaustively, while working to ensure that the person responsible will take the full consequences. of his actions.


“Families are always at the forefront of our minds, and I hope that these arrests today bring us one step closer to giving them the justice they rightly deserve.

“While we hope that today’s arrests can play an important role in our investigation, it is important that anyone who has further information about the man responsible for this horrific crime reports, as the more information we have , the closer we are to removing this criminal from the streets and ensuring that he is no longer a danger to others in society. “

The notices come as part of a dedicated investigation conducted by detectives in GMP’s Major Incident Team, which has been working tirelessly for over a year to gather evidence in relation to the fatal shootings.
