A man has been charged with raping a woman after a night in Tameside.

Dale Garlick, 29, of Calico Crescent, Stalybridge, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in Tameside Magistrates Court today (October 27).

He is accused of raping a woman over 16 years of age.

It comes after police on Monday 27 September received a report from a woman who believed she had been assaulted during a night out in Stalybridge Town Center on Saturday 25 September.

GMP says it treats all reports of sexual assault and sexual violence with the highest priority and confidentiality and takes allegations of this kind extremely seriously.

The force said: “Greater Manchester is nationally recognized as a model of good practice in terms of support services available to victims.

“If you or someone you know has been raped or sexually assaulted, we urge you not to suffer in silence and report it to the police or a support agency so you can get the help and support available.”

Saint Mary’s Sexual Assault Referral Center, Manchester provides a comprehensive and coordinated response to men, women and children living or who have been sexually abused in Greater Manchester.

They offer forensic examinations, practical and emotional support as well as counseling for all ages. Services are available on a 24-hour basis and can be accessed by calling 0161 276 6515.
