HALIBURTON, ONT. Canadian authorities are looking for suspects after $ 11 million in pure silver was stolen from a shipping container in Montreal almost two years ago.

According to Toronto police, the silver was stolen in the form of gold bars from a shipping container in January 2020.

Police said in a press release Tuesday that the silver bars had several stamped markings, including serial numbers and “Korea Zinc” embedded in the metal.

“Investigators believe some of the silver was melted into bars (smaller bricks) for a better chance of avoiding suspicion at sale,” Toronto police said in the statement.

Authorities said some of the silver had been found in Toronto, British Columbia and south of the Massachusetts border.

The police published pictures showing large, blue containers in which the silver was transported, as well as the shipping container in which the barrels were transported.

The pictures show a gray freight container, marked MSKU 403 026 7 22G1.

Police said investigators would like to talk to anyone who may have received the silver bars or worry that they may have received by-products of the stolen metal.
