Delphi, Future Score must pass test to run

Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained stayer Delphi has been approved to run in the Melbourne Cup, but Matt Cumani’s future score has been scratched after testing this morning.

Strongly supported Delphi and long-range Future Score were to pass veterinary examinations before the final scraping time at. 7.30 AEDT this morning.

Delphi was approved to drive and will take his place in the race, but Racing Victoria confirmed that the Future Score did not pass the test.

Delphi has been a big move in the betting markets, jumping from $ 34 to $ 17 after the barrier draw before the news of his race-day check-up broke.

Champion jockey Damien Oliver is booked to ride Delphi.

According to Racing Victoria, Delphi showed signs of lameness in the left front leg, while Matt Cumani trained the Future Score had signs of lameness in the right front leg.

Delphi has not raced since the Caulfield Cup on October 16 after finishing 13th despite entering the race as a heavily backed second favorite.

TAB reports that Delphi is one of the best supported runners in the last 24 hours.

Future Score was long odds of paying $ 126 after his last bad start at the Moonee Valley Gold Cup on October 23rd.
