For Hill House founder and CEO Nell Diamond, the holiday season begins in mid-October. Not only is her brand launching its long-awaited holiday collection of Nap dresses and more at this time, but all three of her children have birthdays within a few days in a row in the middle of the month – her oldest child’s birthday was the same as this year’s Hill Launch of House Holiday 2021.

“It’s just my thing – I like to do everything at once,” says Diamond. “It’s such a special way to start the holiday season for us, and then Halloween is so amazing in New York City, especially where we live in the center of the West Village.”

Then suddenly, as Diamond says, New York City apparently transforms overnight into a holiday wonderland throughout November and December. She has bottled much of the classic holiday magic into Hill House’s recent launch of not only the instantly iconic Nap Dresses, but also loungewear, accessories and what Diamond calls “closet mates” or pieces of clothing that match the dresses like cardigans, opaque tights, and bodysuits for layering in cool weather.

“Holidays are a super-fun season for us, and especially this year I wanted to take those dresses and offer pieces that take them to the next level while I update them for our New York City winters,” Diamond says. However, there is still an abundance of new Nap dresses plus a new fabric – a silk-built velvet – and a long-sleeved silhouette that quickly became a favorite among customers. We are also fascinated by the Winter Toile fabric that is found throughout the collection.

“It’s the most surreal thing that’s ever been walking around New York City, and someone came up to me and told me they love my nap; I never think I’ll get over that experience,” Diamond says. “A lot of the growth in our brand came from when we were all stuck inside, so it’s great to see people out there now.”

Diamond has dreamed of a way to finally get in touch with the nearly 150,000 Instagram followers and Nap Dress-obsessed this holiday season with a smart and festive pop-up store in SoHo that opens Thursday, December 4th. Inspired by Diamond’s London upbringing and the Christmas magic that can be found across the city’s best shops, the Hill House holiday pop-up will be a place to celebrate, shop for loved ones and meet the woman behind Nap Dress.

“It’s been so amazing some months, and I’ve been dreaming of doing something like this since March 2020. We just can ‘t wait for it to happen and spread some Christmas cheer, and it just feels so iconic to shop at SoHo when you has visited New York City. “

Whether you’re looking into the store around the block or stopping while enjoying a vacation in the Big Apple, Diamond says her vacation in New York should always include trips to the theater or ballet, and she can’t wait to return to Broadway. this season – of course dressed in the new velvet jasmine or Akilah dress. And a night on the town on Broadway is not complete without a trip to a classic New York cocktail bar for a festive drink.

“There are so many iconic cocktail places in New York,” Diamond says. “Going to Bemelmans feels like such a good holiday tradition. One of my good friends also opened Saint Theo’s in the village where we recorded the Hill House Holiday campaign because it has the most beautiful bar. I’m just excited to go there for a a glass of champagne and have some cozy nights there with college friends and just enjoy being with everyone again now that it’s safer. “

At the end of the day, as a self-described homemaker and one whose business is about lifting everyday life at home, Diamond says there is nothing like celebrating the holiday with his family and slowing down to enjoy time together when they able to. Whether it’s taking your kids to their first live theater show, working on the Hill House holiday pop-up every day, or just enjoying a Sunday night birthday dinner with the family from their favorite pizza joint at the Hill House Botanical Table Linen in a rare quiet night, you will be able to find Diamond dressed in a festive lure and offer us the holiday spirit that we all need right now.
