A. Quincy Jones’s Calvin House is for rent in Los Angeles

The beloved Los Angeles architect A Quincy Jones designed this renovated mid-century home in Los Angeles’ Tarzana neighborhood, now for rent for $ 8,750 a month.

Jones designed over 5,000 built projects, most notably for Eichler, and helped popularize the indoor-outdoor living model of California modernism. His 1960s Tarzana design has been refurbished in keeping with its mid-century heritage with whitewashed walls, teak and redwood cabinets.

Common living areas have high ceilings and are crossed by posts and beams with interior ‘floating’ walls that exaggerate the height of the one-storey dwelling. The living room is a special highlight that opens onto the garden, planted with native California fauna and a swimming pool – and offers views of the San Fernando Valley outside.

The inner courtyard is another visual feature, in the shadow of the Los Angeles home’s overhanging eaves, while there are four bedrooms located across the 2,200-square-foot home. It is for rent through the Partridge Estates Group.
