A group of masked Halloween ghouls pretended to be trick-or-treating in Brooklyn – only to pull a gun on a man and hit him when he opened the door and gave them candy, police said Monday.
Video released by the NYPD shows a man and woman dressed from head to toe in costume sheets with caps and scary masks – while wearing illuminated goodiebags with a pumpkin face on – outside the home near Lake Avenue and Nostrand Avenue in Sheepshead Bay around 10.30pm on Sunday, police said. .
The footage shows the man ringing the bell and he and his accomplice pushing their bags inside the door while the 37-year-old resident drops candy in them, police said.
The disguised creeper then pulls out a gun and pushes his way into the home while the woman hurries away – and another male suspect, whose face is also covered, rushes up to help his cohort apparently try to rob the victim .
Both male attackers punched the victim in the face in front of his wife and little son, police said.
“When the victim struggled to keep [first male] person out, another man ran up to the door and also tried to push himself past the victim, ”police said in a statement. “The men repeatedly punched the victim in the face during the incident.”
The villains dropped a bag on the spot that contained a taser, zipper and duct tape, police said. It was not clear if they got away with anything.
Eventually, the victim was able to push both men out of his home and lock his door.
The victim suffered minor facial injuries.
Police are still chasing the suspects.
