Apple’s latest operating system, MacOS Monterey, is reportedly the brick of older Mac models, according to numerous complaints on social media.
As DigiTrends reports, Apple’s discussion forum, Twitter, and Reddit are filled with frustrated users who are unable to turn on their machines after undergoing the update installation, and that restore features do not resolve the issue.
2018 and 2019 MacBook Pros are among the machines, along with iMac and Mac Mini models.
Some users have suggested that restoring your computer’s firmware may resolve the issue, but this is a complex procedure that involves another Mac and Apple Configurator 2 tool.
Apple is currently beta testing MacOS 12.1, which may include a fix. Until then, hold on tight, I think?
