Police officer stabbed in the head after responding to domestic violence in Gladesville

A police officer has been injured after reacting to an incident of violence at his home in Sydney on Tuesday morning.

Police say officers participated in a unit on Punt Road in Gladesville, where they were allegedly confronted by a man carrying two knives.

He then allegedly attacked a 26-year-old male detective who was given a shard in the head.

He was rushed to the Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A police operation unfolded with officers and dealers from the Tactical Operations Unit attending the scene, and a 38-year-old man was arrested just after 12:30 p.m.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area, with Punt Road closed in both directions.
