Manchester City have reportedly signed a deal with Sporting Lisbon to sell 22-year-old defender Pedro Porro.

According to Record, the Portuguese giants will make the full-back’s two-year loan deal permanent after impressing for the UEFA Champions League team.

Pedro Porro came to Sporting in 2020. And the defender has won lots of admirers during his tenure at the club, where the right-back flourished in the Primera Liga.

Since City have an abundance of right-backs, it makes really good sense to sell Pedro Porro for Pep Guardiola and football director Txiki Begiristain.

Kyle Walker is the club’s number one right back, while Joao Cancelo can operate in the position if need be. And although City have a € 20m (£ 17m) buy-back clause for Pedro Porro, it is unlikely that this will be activated.

In fact, Pedro Porro will be the latest in a long line of players to be snatched up by City and eventually sold on without appearing for the first team.
