“We want Lillard!” in the midst of Simmons’ trade stalemate

The Philadelphia 76ers have long said that Damian Lillard would be a dream return for Ben Simmons, so fans would never let this opportunity pass.

When the Portland Trail Blazers only took a trip to Philadelphia during the regular season, the infamous 76ers supporter base seized the opportunity to let Lillard know he would be welcomed with open arms if he were ever to be relocated.

While opposition stars often get the butt of jokes under shouts from 76ers fans, their reception of the guard was remarkable.

The Portland star found support from Philly fans while taking a trip to the charity strip early in the match.

“We want Lillard! We want Lillard!” the stadium kept on shouting the minutes of the match and the referee gave the foul.

Reports claim Simmons is doing “more shooting” and “more work” as his return to court for the 76s increases.

Lillard’s name was tossed around in the low season in trade negotiations, but he shut down reports that he wanted to leave Portland.

After the match, Lillard expressed appreciation for the “love” Philadelphia fans showed him during the match.

Seth Curry moved up in Joel Embid’s absence and scored 23 points – including several important buckets late – to lead short-handed Philadelphia over Portland 113-103.

Embiid, the team’s leading goal scorer and four-time All-Star, was out to rest – his first missed game of the season.

The 76ers were also without Tobias Harris (Health and Safety Protocols), who was a late scratch, losing starter Danny Green in the third quarter due to a tight thigh, but not before scoring 11 points.

It was the first of three games in four nights for Philadelphia, which has won three in a row. Georges Niang added 21 points for the 76ers.

Norman Powell led the Trail Blazers by 22 points. Lillard had 20 points and 10 assists, and CJ McCollum also had 20 points.
